Schlitterbahn Waterpark is a brand owned by the same company that manages Six Flags amusement parks. It was previously a family-owned operation with its headquarters in New Braunfels. 

The first water park opened in New Braunfels in 1979. It originally opened with four waterslides, and since then, it has undergone three expansions. Today, the water park offers numerous rivers, water slides, rides, water playgrounds, and more. Some lazy river water comes from natural spring water from the Comal River

There are several “firsts” coming from the New Braunfels Schlitterbahn. It is home to the world’s first inland surfing ride, the Boogie Bahn, which opened in 1992. The first uphill water coaster, the Dragon Blaster, opened in 1994. Then, soon after, it opened the world’s first wave river, the Torrent, in 1996. In  2011, the park opened the world’s longest tubing river, The Falls. 

Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels is also where you will find the world’s most award-winning uphill water coaster, the Master Blaster.
